Where are the Cayman Islands located?
The Cayman Islands are located approximatley 150 miles south of Cuba and are made up of three main islands. Grand Cayman is the largest and most developed of the islands and has a population close to 35,000 and is 76 square miles or 22 miles long and 8 miles at its widest point. Grand Cayman is 90 miles west of Cayman Brac and Little Cayman.
What is the weather like?
Situated only 20 degrees from the Equator, the Cayman Islands enjoy nice temperatures year-round (70-95F). The temperature peaks around July and is the lowest in February. Hurricane, or "wet season", is from June through November and peaks around October.
What monetary unit is used?
The ratio of exchchange between the Cayman Dollar and the US Dollar does not change. The US dollar equals 80 Caymanian cents. Cayman money is available in various denominations (1, 5, 10, 25, 50, 100) and also has coins (.01, .05, .10, .25).
What are some general driving rules?
The Cayman Islands are a British overseas territory and driving is done on the left hand side of the road. With its' unique location in regards to the United States, car rental fleets usually have a mix of left and right hand drive vehicles.
Driving under the influence of alcohol or drugs is strictly prohibited.
